AAADD KNOW THE SYMPTOMS......PLEASE READ!
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D..D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my
car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box
earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I
lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the
table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills
back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I
think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage
anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off
the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are
in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my
checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't
accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to
put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen
with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need
water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back
on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly
spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize
that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I
won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in
the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour
some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and
wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what
I was planning to do. At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the
counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check
in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and
I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I
was busy all day, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....
Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who I've sent it to. Don't laugh -- if
this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

Voices for and against Online Gambling bill

"Gaming Insiders See Protectionist Loopholes in Frank's Casino Bill USA Online Casinos
Rose points out the bill would exclude online gaming licenses to parties found to be "delinquent in filing any applicable Federal or State tax returns or in the payment of any taxes, penalties, additions to tax, or interest owed to a State or the United States." Rose says this clause could be used to reject any online gaming operator that ever took bets from US residents if the Department of the Treasury decides taxes were due on that business."

Editorial: Online poker does not contribute to 'Problem Gamblers' Examiner.com
One of several points Steven Ruddock makes is:
"When legitimate methods of gambling are taken away the problem gambler will turn to underground games –which can be both crooked and dangerous. Internet sites have a strict policy of “you pay up front”; in an underground game (usually run by organized crime syndicates) there are always parties willing to ‘lend’ you money, charging exorbitant interest rates of course. Internet sites also set deposit maximums; while these appear silly (most sites allow players to deposit $5,000 a day) it is a much better failsafe than letting a player lose their life savings, and then go into hock, in one horrible evening."

Blind woman wins at bingo after protest A blind New York woman says it is a joy to be able to hear her electronic bingo card in the wake of her two-year battle to allow the devices to be audible. The Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle said Wednesday Joanna Richardson, 51, who was born blind, won a game of bingo this month after convincing state officials to allow the electronic bingo devices to audibly notify users if they won. The state Racing and Wagering Board, which supervises bingo games in the state of New York, previously had banned audible electronic cards due to complaints from other bingo players. But after Richardson's two-year campaign of e-mails and telephone calls, the state group capitulated to her request and allowed the devices to alert users if they are victorious or are only one square away from winning.

Representative Barney Frank wants to license and regulate online gambling companies.
WASHINGTON — After coming up short in a first effort, a Democratic lawmaker has again introduced legislation that would roll back a ban on Internet gambling enacted when Republicans led Congress.
The legislation, introduced this month by Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, would allow the Treasury Department to license and regulate online gambling companies that serve American customers. Under the current law, approved by Congress in September 2006, financial institutions are banned from handling transactions made to and from Internet gambling sites.

Harrah's Joining The Battle For Legalized Online Gambling

Harrah's Joining The Battle For Legalized Online Gambling There has always been the usual supporters of Internet gambling freedom. They range from the everyday citizen, to the big online gaming companies that will benefit from legalization. This time around, however, Representative Barney Frank has allies in places that before were against online gambling. Harrah's Entertainment has registered to lobby for the first time, and it is largely because they are in favor of legalized Internet gambling. The company has spent over $400,000 in the first quarter of 2009 on lobbying efforts.

Moving toward a solution
Legalize Online Gambling | The Barr Code
What is needed is legislation that simply and clearly repeals UNIGEA and that repeals or at least curtails the 1961 “Wire Act,” which continues to be broadly interpreted by the Justice Department to prohibit internet gambling. In recent years almost every state has moved to leglalize some form of betting, whether by lottery, casinos or racetracks, and it makes no sense — if it ever did — to empower the federal government to continue prohibiting people from using the internet to place bets. If the only way to restore freedom in this respect is to put up with some form of regulation, let’s at least keep the regulatory aspect to a minimum and maximize the ability of adults to place bets online.

A push to legalize Internet gambling
A push to legalize Internet gambling - Los Angeles Times
A push to legalize Internet gambling A man plays poker on his computer connected to an internet gaming site from his home in Manassas, Virginia in 2006. Supporters tell Congress that online gaming can be regulated and taxed. Critics worry that such easy access to betting could worsen addictions.
Reporting from Washington -- The online gambling industry is waging a campaign in Congress to legalize Internet betting, arguing that it is here to stay and can be regulated and taxed. But opponents are raising moral objections.
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), head of the House Financial Services Committee, is leading the fight for gamblers. A previous effort by Frank failed to get out of committee, but the combination of grass-roots and corporate support -- as well as the weakening of the Republican Party -- might improve the odds, advocates said.
"The poker players and other online gamblers have gotten organized," Frank said, adding that he supported the legislation as a matter of personal freedom.
I. Nelson Rose, a professor at Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa and coauthor of the book "Internet Gaming Law," thinks Frank will have the power to push legislation through the House this time around. "It will pass, although there will be changes," Rose said. "Very few people in Congress really care at all about Internet gambling."

Finland Debates Banning All Gambling Marketing Finland's parliament is now debating a countrywide ban on all gambling marketing, which would include online poker and live poker tournaments. The marketing ban is expected to pass as early as this autumn. The ban would forbid "indirect advertising and other sales promotion activities", including all sponsorship in exchange for the display of a brand's logo. That means gaming operators could neither sponsor sports event or players, nor brand media such as caps or cabs, even when no direct enticement to gamble is made. more

Lawmaker makes push for legal online ... - Google News: "'The government should not interfere with people's liberty unless there is a good reason,' Frank said. 'This is, I believe, the single biggest example of an intrusion into the principle that people should be free to do things on the Internet. It's clearly the case that gambling is an activity that can be done offline but not online.'

Woman stole £150,000 for gambling
BBC NEWS | UK | England | Devon | Woman stole £150,000 for gambling
A woman has been jailed for two and a half years for stealing £150,000 from her employers to feed her online gambling habit.
Eileen Evis, 61, from Colaton Raleigh, Devon, took the money from building firm TAG in Sidmouth where she worked as a £50-a-week book-keeper.
Exeter Crown Court was told she won £36,000 by gambling, but the £150,000 she took had disappeared.
Evis admitted six charges of fraud and two charges of dishonesty.
The court heard that the offences took place over 10 months from March 2007 after Evis was left in charge of the company when its owners moved to Canada.
But she switched their bank accounts to the internet and stole from two accounts to feed her online gambling.
