Indian casinos donated $66m to different congressmen
Indian tribal casinos donated $66m to different congressmen to win influence.
According to news.telegraph $66m in casino cash was used to win influence in the congress.
"Washington is mesmerised by its worst lobbying scandal in decades as evidence emerges of political fixers taking millions from casino owners and funnelling the cash to themselves and friends in Congress."
"The money was intended to win influence for the tribes in Washington and stave off the building of new casinos by rivals threatening their lucrative gambling businesses on their land. Instead, according to the Senate and some of the Indian tribes, Mr Abramoff and Mr Scanlon, a former spokesman for Tom DeLay, one of the country's top Republicans, inflated expenses, overbilled and used foundations to avoid tax."
"The Senate has released hundreds of e-mails to back its case. Senator John McCain said they suggested that a range of criminal offences may have been committed."
"The Senate also heard Mr Abramoff used the "profits" to pay for his children's education and a golfing trip he took in Scotland with Mr DeLay."
