Efforts to make online bingo legal again

Online bingo operators and bingo online players alike will be pleased to hear that Barney Frank’s Internet Gaming Regulation and Enforcement Act (IGREA) has picked up even more support with a further three US Congressmen signing on to the effort to bring about change to the existing Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

Serving Congressman Barney Frank is persevering in his attempts to drum up support for a change to the controversial UIGEA law by introducing his bill for a regulated online gambling industry along similar lines to that enjoyed in the UK. It is also considered that a change to UIGEA may help resolve the current WTO dispute that could see the US having to pay out billions in compensation due to its intentions to withdraw from its WTO obligations in order to retain UIGEA.

The three latest Congressmen to join the fight against UIGEA are Robert E. Andrews (New Jersey), Adam Smith (Washington), and John B. Larson (Connecticut).
