New Chief for European Bingo Assn
Spanish executive takes the chair
The Federation of European Union Bingo Associations (EUBINGO), has appointed Javier Franch Cardona of the Spanish Association to serve as president for two years. The Association comprises several of Europe's bingo associations.
Outgoing President, Sir Peter Fry of Great Britain's bingo association assumes the vice presidency and Italo Marcotti of the Italian association Federbingo takes over as secretary.
The appointments were announced at EUBINGO's agm in Brussels on 18 June 2008. Cardona is President of the Spanish Association of Bingo Entrepreneurs CEJ, and will serve a two-year term.
The agm went on to approve a common position on online gambling and a code of conduct on responsible gambling, and confirmed its commitment to the establishment of a European Social Dialogue table for gambling. The Assembly further agreed on the continuous monitoring of developments in gaming regulation; on engagement in the political process at EU level; a potential gambling Directive and on recruitment of new member associations from other EU member states.
“2008-2010 looks set to present the bingo sector with very specific challenges, not least in the form of continued smoking bans, providing for responsible gaming and competition from other forms of gaming – we at EUBINGO look forward to these challenges” said Cardona
Established in 2006, EUBINGO represents the professional and social interests of national bingo associations. Members include the Bingo Association of Great Britain, the Spanish Confederation of Organizations of Bingo Games Managers, the Italian Federbingo and the Star Bingo Group of Ireland.
